Friendship Place is a Christian organization working to provide our neighbors in poverty the opportunity to move from crisis to self-sufficiency. For almost 20 years we have helped people not only meet their basic needs but also move up and out of poverty. We are focused on building relationships with those we serve so we can encourage and challenge them to reach their full potential.

We are a small grass-roots operation and we strive to be creative, effective and efficient in the administration of our programs. Strong enough to help move our clients forward and agile enough to meet their changing needs.

Georgetown Eats:

A meal program that provides hot, nutritious meals to our neighbors in need five days a week. The meals are prepared by staff and served to each guests by volunteers from area churches. There are no buffet lines at Friendship Place. Neighbors serves neighbor. Prayer teams, comprised of trained volunteers, offer our guests the opportunity to share their praises and concerns. In 2018, we served more than 8,000 meals.

Georgetown Works:

An anti-poverty program that helps our neighbors move out of poverty through employment. In 2018, in collaboration with three non-profits we conducted 12 employment boot camps, graduated 97, placed 86 in jobs, with 77% still in those jobs today.

Once our Georgetown Works members are placed, our employment coaches work with them to keep them on the job and help them advance. The coaches encourage, challenge and build up each member to help them reach their full potential and escape poverty.
